Installing and Using UpLync Softphone (Windows Desktop Devices)

UpLync Softphone cuts the ties to the physical phone sitting on your desk. Available for mobile and desktop, the UpLync Softphone app immediately transforms your personal device into your business office extension. You can call or text using your business number from any location. 

Logging Into UpLync Softphone

  1. Install UpLync Softphone app from the Microsoft store.
  2. Enter the username and password provided by your UpLync support agent via email.
    1. Your computer may prompt you to set the softphone as your default caller, if you choose. It isn't required.
  3. The green light in the bottom left-hand corner indicates your account is registered, and you're ready to start making calls. If you see a red light, double check that your credentials are entered correctly. After double checking, if it's still red, email support@uplync.com for assistance.

Checking Voicemail and Recording Greetings and Name

  1. Open UpLync Softphone, and press the Voicemail button.

  2. Enter your mailbox number and password, if applicable.
  3. Press 0 for voicemail options, and then press 1 to record your unavailable greeting. The system will walk you through the various prompts for recording your name and a temporary greeting, if you want one.

Enabling Do Not Disturb (DND)

You can "silence" incoming calls by enabling Do Not Disturb (DND) in the app. 
  1. Click the half-moon button on the bottom left-hand corner. 


  2. It will turn red, indicating DND mode is enabled. To disable DND, click the red half-moon button. It will return to its original state.


Transferring a Call

  1. When you're on a live call, click the Transfer button.


  2. The dialpad screen will appear. Enter the extension or phone number of the person to whom you wish to transfer to. Press the green "call" button.

Adding and Editing Contacts

  1. Click on the Contacts icon and then the + symbol.


  2. Enter the information for your contact and click Save.


  3. To edit or delete the contact, click on the Contacts icon, the contact list will appear.


  4.  Right-click on the contact name. A menu appears allowing you to select your option.
If you click on the contact first and open the contact record, you cannot access the edit/delete menu. It only appears if you right-click on the name from your contact list.

Connecting Your Headset

You can connect UpLync Softphone to the headset you use with your desktop computer.
  1. Click on the Settings icon from the dialpad.


  2. Click on Sound and select your headset from the dropdown menus under Microphone and Speaker.
